Separating big and little objects

This is a very simple activity for developing children’s listening and understanding. We have a selection of dinosaurs as this particular child loves dinosaurs at the moment but you could use any object of your child’s interest or even objects you may have in the home such as pots, bowls or cups.

Joanne one of our nursery nurses has simplified the activity and asked the child to pick which dinosaur is big or little from a group of two, but you could adapt this and have groups of four or above depending on your child’s ability.

As your child gets more confident separating objects you could make it more challenging by having objects that don’t have a huge difference in size so your child can develop their thinking skills and identify smaller differences in size.
