We had top count the votes twice for February’s Teacher of the Month award, for the first time we have two winners. First up I went to see Mr Hockaday from Hadrian Park Primary School.

Did you always know that you wanted to become a teacher?
Yes, from a young age, I always had an interest in teaching and helping educate others.
What’s the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
Being part of the children’s life as they grow and progress both academically and individually.
What’s the most challenging thing about being a teacher?
It can be a long working day.
Could you guess how many students you have taught?
Over 100 … so far.
What’s your favourite subject to teach?
Science and PSHE.
What makes a good teacher?
Someone who understands the children needs, both academic and personal, and can use these to provide the pupils with a personalised educational experience that engages and inspires their learning.
Who was your favourite teacher when you were at school and why?
Miss Dickenson, my A-Level English Teacher, she always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.
Did you enjoy school?
Yes! Getting to learn new things while spending time with your friends all day was amazing!
Whilst you have undoubtedly inspired many children, who inspires you?
My Mam because she has raised me to have kind, caring and resilient qualities, which I used to become a teacher.
