Teacher of the Month – Mrs Jackson – Hadrian Park

Our Wallsend Teacher that received the most votes last month was Mrs Jackson from Hadrian Park Primary School………………let’s get to really know her.

Did you always know that you wanted to work with children?

Yes from being young I have always loved working with children. My Nana was a Cub Scout leader and so when I was younger I used to go and help there. I was a Nursery Nurse in a private nursery before making the transition to a TA and then eventually a Teacher.

What’s the most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
Working with the fabulous children at Hadrian Park and seeing them make so much progress throughout the year.

What’s the most challenging thing about being a teacher?
The time constraints- lots to do and very little time to do it!

What’s your favourite subject?
Maths- I am always amazed by the way children can explain their reasoning.

What makes a good teacher?
Someone who has the children’s best interests at the forefront of everything they do. Someone who is kind, understanding and who caters for each individual child’s needs.

Who was your favourite teacher when you were at school and why?
At primary school my favourite teacher was Miss Gibson, she was firm but fair and so caring! At secondary school my favourite teacher was Mr Bennett, he always believed in me.

Did you enjoy school?
I loved school! I still love learning new things and sharing my knowledge with others.
Whilst you have undoubtedly inspired many children, who inspires you?
My children and the amazing staff team I work with in Early Years inspire me every day. We are all each other’s cheerleaders and I couldn’t do it without them.
For any young people reading this, why should they consider a career in teaching?
No two days are ever the same and the job satisfaction is tremendous!

Any thing else that you would like our visitors to know?
I am so grateful to be chosen as teacher of the month! The comments that I received were so wonderful, it is such a pleasure to work with such amazing children.
