International Women’s Day (Part 2)…8th March 2021

IWD 2021 campaign theme: #ChooseToChallenge

Welcome back!

As we said last week International Women’s Day MUST be celebrated and promoted all across Wallsend and beyond. At St Pauls in Willington Quay we have been busy researching and learning more.

We need to think that a challenged world is an alert world, and that individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.

We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

If you look back at the International Women’s Day 2021 website you will see that the theme this year is Choose to Challenge and on the website we are invited to send in our #ChooseToChallenge images as they hope to share images from all around the world in the lead up to International Women’s Day 2021.

So strike the #ChooseToChallenge pose with your hand high to show your commitment to choose to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world.

We have done this at the St Paul’s Youth Club! These images will be posted on the International Women’s Day website with hopefully thousands more from people all over the world.

So, hand up high to show you’re in

Will you #ChooseToChallenge?

Show your support and solidarity

Raise your hand high to show you’re in and that you commit to choose to challenge and call out inequality.

Strike the Choose To Challenge pose and share on social media using #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021 to encourage further people to commit to helping forge an inclusive world.

Here is a really good short film that will inspire you. Its a couple of years old but has some fantastic messages from lots of people! Enjoy and be inspired!

Remember, at the youth club in Willington Quay we are always doing activities that are fun and inclusive but we also do lots of things that are important for young people to learn about themselves and the wider world.

It is International Women’s Day on the 8th March but really it should be everyday!

See ya!
